Understanding Your 8th CPC Calculation
Calculating the projected salary jump under the 8th Pay Commission involves evaluating how your existing 7th CPC basic pay scales up against key financial parameters:
- Basic Pay Revision: Your basic pay is multiplied by the selected fitment factor and rounded up to the nearest ₹100 as per standard government pay matrix conventions.
- Dearness Allowance Reset: Upon implementation, active DA merges into basic salary, resetting the active DA rate to 0% before accruing fresh biannual installments.
- HRA Revision: HRA is recalculated as a percentage of your newly established basic pay based on your city class: X Class (30%), Y Class (20%), or Z Class (10%).
- Transport Allowance (TA) & DA on TA: TA rates depend on your pay level and posting location (Higher TPTA cities vs. Other cities). In 7th CPC, active DA (50%) applies to TA, whereas in 8th CPC DA on TA resets to 0% at inception.
Calculations shown above are model projections based on historical Pay Commission trends and publicly discussed fitment factor estimates. Official salary structures, revised pay levels, and allowance notifications will be formally issued by the Ministry of Finance following the 8th Pay Commission’s official report.
